Toni Braxton in Vegas Hospital

Worldwide known R&B singer Toni Braxton was reportedly admitted in a Las Vegas hospital and there are speculations that she suffered a heart attack.

The singer known for her husky alto voice was admitted to St. Rose Dominican Hospital last night. She was rushed to the hospital after she performed in a show at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino.

She is in good condition, Vegas.com wrote on its Web site. However, hospital officials didn’t provide details on why she is there.

The R&B singer who won six Grammy Awards and has sold over forty million records worldwide found out that she was suffering from pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart, after she gave birth to her second son, a spokeswoman for the American Heart Association said.

Braxton’s tomorrow show (Toni Braxton: Revealed) will most likely be canceled. A confirmation is expected to be made this afternoon. Ticket holders are advised to contact the Flamingo about the singer’s Wednesday night show. (Read More)

Horton' tramples box office

Dr. Seuss' film nets $13.2 million Friday

Save Friday Night LightsLike an elephant, family herds didn't forget about "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who" Friday, shelling out a hefty $13.2 million to see the toon in 3,954 theaters.

"Horton" posted the third best opening day for both a pre-summer animated pic and a Twentieth Century Fox-Blue Sky Studios production, ranking behind 2006's "Ice Age: Meltdown" ($21.8 million) and 2002's "Ice Age" ($13.5 million).

"Horton" will likely follow a similar B.O. path to the first "Ice Age" this weekend, which bowed to $46.3 million during the third three-day frame of March 2002.

Next to the two recent Dr. Seuss titles adapted to the big screen as live-actioners, 2000's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and 2003's "The Cat in the Hat," "Horton's" haul charts second behind the $15.6 million gobbled by "Grinch."

Boy Band Manager Pearlman Guilty in Fraud Case

Lou Pearlman, the music mogul responsible for the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync, has agreed to plead guilty to fraud.

The amount of fraud is expected to be around $300 million in phony bank and investment schemes.

Pearlman admitted in a plea agreement that for 20 years he has talking people, companies, and banks to invest in two fake companies.

The two fake companies include Transcontinental Airlines Travel Services Inc. and Transcontinental Airlines Inc.

He will enter his plea on Thursday in the U.S.

The guilty plea was for two counts of conspiracy.  One was for money laundering, and the other for false claim of bankruptcy.

The charged carry a $1 million fine and up to 25 years in prison.

American Idol heads to theme park

An American Idol attraction where the public can audition before a live studio audience is set to open at a Disney theme park.

Based on the Fox TV talent contest, guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park will also be offered a makeover and tips from a vocal coach.

The stage show will run six to eight times a day with the audience voting for the winner of an evening final.

The attraction in Florida is due to open later this year.

Details are still being worked out, but it is likely that visitors aged over 14 will be able to do an initial audition for a Disney casting producer.

The judges are likely to be three audience members.

The winners of each day's competition will win a special front-of-the-queue pass at a regional audition for the real American Idol TV show.

"Our goal is to try to recreate the excitement of those 24 people who show up on that American Idol stage," said Disney Parks chairman Jay Rasulo.

"We believe many, many viewers want to know exactly how that feels, and we're going to try to reproduce that feeling for them," he added.

American Idol has been a big ratings hit in the US since it began in 2002.

Tom Cruise's 'Valkyrie' Flies to 2009

Patrick Swayze

The Bryan Singer-directed Tom Cruise vehicle "Valkyrie" has had its release date pushed back for the second time.

According to the industry trades, the WWII drama, which focuses on an attempt to assassinate Adolph Hitler, will now open on Feb. 13, 2009. The United Artists and MGM release had already had its launched pushed from June 27 to Oct. 3.

At the time of the first shift, which moved "Valkyrie" from a summer berth to the pre-Oscar Season fall, reports were that UA wanted to give Singer enough time to finish the film. There have been reports that "Valkyrie" still requires additional shooting (not to be confused with "reshoots"), though that lensing -- said to be three scenes -- would take place next month.

The October opening left open awards possibilities for the drama, which co-stars Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson and Terence Stamp. That will no longer be the case, at least not for this year.

Instead, "Valkyrie" will attempt to take adventage of the box office possibilities of President's Day Weekend, an increasingly profitable frame for studios, though usually for lighter and more frivolous offerings than a Nazi thriller. This past year's President's Day smash was "Jumper."

Currently slated for release in the same weekend next year are Disney's "Confessions of a Shopaholic" and New Line's remake of "Friday the 13th." The opening for "Valkyrie" came up when "Pink Panther 2" was bumped up to Feb. 6 and "Wolfman" was moved back to April 3.

American Idol Eliminated 4 Contestants

American Idol

Carly Smithson progressed on "American Idol" Thursday amid controversy over her professional past. Smithson, 24, has made headlines for having a pre-"Idol" career: The Irish crooner recorded a debut album, 2001's "Ultimate High," for MCA Records. It flopped — after the label spent more than $2 million trying to sell it.

According to AP, the show's gimmick has always been to pluck talented young hopefuls from obscurity and make them into recording artists.

Besides Smithson, several of this year's semifinalists are not exactly rookies in the world of music. Kristy Lee Cook once had a deal with Arista Nashville, and rocker Robbie Carrico was part of the pop group Boyz N Girlz United.

"If they hadn't already tried to make a name for themselves, then they don't deserve to be in (the) competition," said judge Paula Abdul, defending the contestants' real-world experience.

Abdul added that Kelly Clarkson had pursued a recording career before her "Idol" win. Now for the losers: Garrett Haley, Amy Davis, Joanne Borgella and Colton Berry were eliminated by viewers getting their first chance to vote in the top-rated talent contest's seventh season.
